Only Murders in the Building’s Martin Short has a surprise Aquaman 2 role

Aquaman 2 has been released in the UK, unveiling Only Murders in the Building actor Martin Short’s cameo. Short, renowned for Saturday Night Live and The Santa Clause 3, lends his voice to the character Kingfish in the DC superhero sequel. As the name suggests, Kingfish is a ruler, presiding over a pirate sanctuary known as the Sunken Citadel. Aquaman and Orm seek his assistance in acquiring information about the whereabouts of the villain Black Manta as part of the storyline.

The actor, Martin Short, is well-versed in voice work, having lent his voice to projects such as Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Treasure Planet, The Prince of Egypt, Madagascar 3, The Wind Rises, and The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!.

When the Aquaman sequel was initially announced, the DC Extended Universe was still active. However, it is now hitting theaters during a time when James Gunn and Peter Safran are preparing to establish a completely new continuity.

Back in January, Jason Momoa hinted at the possibility of continuing to portray Arthur Curry, stating, “I’ll always be Aquaman, and there’s a lot of evolution for that. So I’m not going anywhere, and it’s very exciting.”

However, in a recent statement this month, Momoa expressed uncertainty about his portrayal of the character continuing in the new DC Universe. He mentioned, “The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there’s a possibility… But right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good’.”
